Soul Work Narative

Issues: Chapter 12

Social Safety Net

Poverty constricts choices. Wealth enables choices.

Poor people are more likely to repeat the mistakes of the past. Poor people have limitied ability to recover from mistakes.

As people gain in education and resources, they have more ability to avoid mistakes and recover from mistakes they do make.

The goal of being a Human Being is to improve one's soul. To return the soul energy to the pool in a better state than one found it. Thus Life wants people to have enough to avoid soul damage or repair soul damage once it has occured.

Thus one of the purposes of society is to provide social safety nets To offer to catch people falling through the cracks. and offer them enough resources to be OK, in body, mind and soul.

Society is not to make everyone equally wealthy. But there should be a bottom, a baseline. People should have food, shelter, mental and medical care to the point were people have time, space to figure themselves out and figure out what constructive things they can do with their life.

We give prisoners basic food, shelter, mental and medical care. Why should homeless people be any different.

Note: Society is under no obligation to provide a safety net (besides prison) for those bent on criminal, harmful or destructive behavior.
