Soul Work Narative

Issues: Chapter 43

Suicide and Euthanasia

Suicide

For the record, committing suicide is usually the wrong choice

Suicide usually comes at some extreme low point. the loss of employment the loss of life station the loss of family-relationships Financial collapse a catastrophic failure or mistake

In such a low point we can suffer from thoughts of just quitting and ending it all. But people who choose to continue living almost always find some way of recovering, or some way of making a new life. There is additional life that can be lived after this point.

Soul Work Theology teaches that we are here to live as full of a life as we can, and return that energy to the pool. And even if we make a colossal mistake, we don't want to die in that mistake and return that mistake pollution to the pool. We want to live and do what we can to process it, clean it up, fix or repair or make it better in some way. So that what is returned to the pool is a fixed, healed, or processed soul as best as we can.

Therefore cutting life short, missing out on that additional life, healing, recovery, and just dumping the failure back into the pool is the wrong choice. As human beings we have the power to recover, heal and mend our ways. And we are responsible for doing so. That is part of why we were sent to live this life.

IMPORTANT NOTE Soul Work Theology teaches that success or reaching the 'top' is not the ultimate goal of life. Living a full life is the goal. It is possible to acheive great success and climb to the top but have an empty life. This is a waste of good life energy. It is possible to never be close to the top but still live a full and rich life. (it is possible to have a full life with some success too, but the success part is optional).

If this thinking really takes root in one's heart and mind, then such a fall from the top to the bottom should not result in "It's all over" type of thinking. Such a fall is not necessarily the end. It does not necessarily mean you failed to live a full life. It does not necessary mean you failed in life. Such a fall could actually be part of living a full life. It could actually be part of your purpose in life. One can always have the goal of recovering, healing, fixing and repairing. And healing yourself or fixing your fatal flaw could be your greatest fulfilment in life.

Therefore Soul Work Theology should not be viewed as adding a prohibition against taking yourself out, but be viewed as a perspective where you don't need to take yourself out just because you failed or fell. It should help you avoid the need to, instead of just prohibiting the action itself. Instead it should give you direction and purpose for what to do next.

Euthanasia

This is different, if the only thing to be gained by living is horrible pain and no quality of life, then the soul is as full as it is going to get. Cutting life short in a peaceful way is better than a long drawn out death.
